February 7 Sectional: Eminence
Lady Deaf Hoosiers ended their regular games last Saturday (Feb. 3), defending Illinois Lady Tigers,
56-31. They vowed to improve their game against Eminence who defeated them a few weeks ago. Lady Deaf
Hoosiers and coaches bravely traveled in freezing cold weather to Eminence High School which was the
host of the sectional games. Lady Deaf Hoosiers only had six girls to play against twelve girls of
the opponent team. Starters (Nukeitra, Sammie, Ann, Amanda, and Amber Cox) played all thru four
quarters. Julia Short took over Amber's place periodically. They improved their performance,

hopes of a win. At the halftime, Lady Hoosiers led by one point, 25-24. They battled to remain in
the lead but were down by six points at the end of third quarter. With the 4th quarter's minutes
counting down, the Lady Hoosiers fought hard to catch up, gaining ten points with Nukeitra's paint
shots and Ann's smooth freethrows. Seeing the scoreboard, 45-46, in a tense atmosphere with 05
seconds and no timeouts left, Ann fouled out. Amanda took over the outbound and threw the ball to
Nukeitra. The ball was forced out by the opponent. The Lady Hoosiers were stunned and heartbroken.
