2006 MS Boys Basketball
January 29 IISL Tournament: Orchard
Our Deaf Hoosiers played against #2 seed Orchard on their home court to open the I.I.S.L. playoffs.

against us. They defeated us 61 to 18. Coach Sigafoose told the boys that he was proud of them, because
they played hard, tried their best and exhibited good sportsmanship against Orchard. The coach noticed
that his boys improved their skills every game.
Coach Sigafoose can't believe basketball season is over! He will miss the boys! His personal goal in
the 19th year as the Middle School coach is to take the boys and join a spring, summer and fall league
basketball at the fieldhouse, basketball camp in summer and have a weekly clinic basketball in the KRC.
This will help the boys continue to improve their skills and be ready for the middle school boys basketball
season in 2007 and 2008! The goal is to be in the top 4 seed for tourney next year!!

Yesterday we hosted Trinity Lutheran in KRC. Our game goal was very simple. Aggressive defense, box-out for rebound,
fast break after the basket and patience offense. The 1st half we lead 17-16. We had many good drives to the basket.
We had couple offense rebounds and 2nd chance scoring. It was good 1st half. The 3rd quarter, we had many steals and
fast break to the baskets. We broke out open with the lead score of 29-20. Excellent 3rd quarter and we hoped to close
the game with WIN. The 4th quarter, we had too many turnovers that helped them to catch up with us. We weren't patient
at the closing minutes, and blew up. They took their first lead of the game under 1 minute play. But we managed to come
back tie the game and forced overtime with score 33-33. The game was filled with turnovers and nail biting. Too many
close shots were missed too. 1st overtime, Scotty Grandt almost sealed the game with game winning shot and was forced
to play 2nd overtime. Unfortunately we fell short with turnover, especially the mental error and lost 39-45 in 2nd
overtime. The coaches were proud of the boys because we fought and didn't give up. It was the experience that we
didn't have, but we're learned.
