2008 MS 7&8 Grade Boys Basketball
February 2: IISL Tournament- St. Richards
We played against #4 seed St Richard on their home court to open the I.I.S.L. playoffs. St Richard played well in the 1st half. The score was 33 to 15 by halftime. ISD fought hard and tried to catch up in the 2nd half but we lost. The final score was 32 to 46. Coach Sigafoose can't believe basketball season is over. Coaches will miss the boys!!! We want to wish good luck to the 8th grade boys for next year High School basketball. The 8th grade boys are Jeremy Dean, Tony Long Jr, Chace Shaffer, Travis Collett and Malcolm Taylor. I am looking forward to having the 6th and 7th grade players next year!!!
January 26: Trinity Lutheran
We hosted Trinity Lutheran in the KRC yesterday. We started the game leading with our game controlled tempo. We led 27 to 22 at the end of 3rd quarter. Trinity Lutheran took this lead away early in the 4th quarter and kept leading over ISD to the end of the game. Trinity Lutheran had a big advantage over us because we made many turnovers, 7 out of 20 team free throws, lack of rebounding and struggled with offensive shooting. We lost to them and the final score was 38 to 46.

January 13: Kingsway Christian
January 8: St. John Lutheran
December 17: Traders Point
We rematched against Trader Point at our home court. Last November 17th, they defeated us 23 to 80 at their home court. Our players tried their best and fought hard against them. We lost 49 to 34. Coach was pleased with the team because they really fought hard and they are improving every game!! They are looking forward to playing basketball in January!!!!!
December 16: Orchards
We played at Orchard last night. We had to play equally to their all-year around basketball team of experience and skills. They are a talented team. We couldn't catch up to them. They defeated us by a score of 48 to 19.
December 10: Irvington
We played against Irvington on our home court. We defeated them by 30 points. It was 53 to 23. All 10 players played 12 minutes each. It was nice to have all of the players on the court!!! We had 24 rebounds and 10 steals as team. We will play at Orchard next Tuesday.
December 9: Syacmore
Deaf Hoosiers traveled against to Sycamore. Our goal was very simple, have a patience offense and aggressive defense. The 1st quarter, We tied 4-4. The 2nd quarter, we struggled with offensive shooting. We were down by 6-15 in the halftime. I told the boys never give up, be patient and control the offense, and HUSTLE DEFENSE! The 3rd quarter, we continued fighting to catch up and we were down by 11-17. The 4th quarter, we finally opened to lead by 22-21 with 30 seconds left. One of the Sycamore players shot and made the score and lead 22-23 in 4 second left. During the timeout,We made a game plan for the last shot but we made a turnover. We lost by one point, 22 to 23. The coaches were very proud of boys because they worked hard, didn't give up and had outstanding defense!!!
December 2: Bethesda Christian
We played against Bethesda at our home court. We didn't execute our offense which created turnovers, however, we played outstanding defense and shut them down in the second quarter. We tied 12-12 by halftime. Bethesda took this lead away early in the second half and kept leading over ISD to the end of game. We lost by 11 points, 35 to 24. Bethesda took a big advantage rebounding against us because they had 3 taller players who were 6'3 , 6'1 and 6'0. We need to improve and work on the box-out rebound, offense shooting, press, tough and less turnovers.
November 25: Park Tudor
At the halftime the score was ISD 20 vs Park Tudor 17. We played better in the second half. We defeated Park Tudor, 51 to 30.
We will play a home game against Bethesda on December 2nd. Please come and support our team!!
November 19: Calvery Lutheran
We traveled to Calvary Lutheran. They outscored us by 12 points in the first quarter. We decided to change the defense to zone (3 on 2) from Man to Man. We fought hard to catch up and led by one point at the half and we improved in the second half. We defeated them by 6 points, 59 to 53. Coaches were very proud of our boys because they did not give up and fought hard to win!!!
We had 30 rebounds and free throws 15 out of 20 as a team. We had 5 out of 14 free throws in the first game but we improved free throws (23 out of 32) in the last 3 games!! Keep it up with free throws!!! November 18: Traders Point
We played against Traders Point. We were defeated 80 to 23. Traders Point took us by surprise and they are a very talented team!! We played equal to their first year of their all-year around basketball of experience, mentality and skill. We plan to work hard and improve on our offense, defense and drive. The team record is 2 wins and 1 loss.
November 13: Oaks Academy
We hosted Oaks Academy at ISD KRC. Through the intense battle, we earned our second victory, 33-26. We established the defense strategy and the players followed the instructions. We started opening with a fast break and our defense did a great job. We had 20 rebounds; and 5 steals and 5 assists. Our transition of the team will be more exciting and look more bright in the coming games. Please root for us!

November 11: International
We opened our first exciting game with a win! We defeated International at their home court. It was 31 to 20. We played very well as defense!! We had 24 steals and 17 rebounds as a team. Our next home game is against Oaks Academy this Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
We want to recognize our players: Tyler Berdy, Duke Smith, Austin Phillips, Kenny Long, Jeremy Dean, Chace Shaffer, Malcolm Taylor, Tony Long, Jr., Zack Kremer, Travis Collett, and Jeremiah Hephzibah. We have Jeff Spinale and Jonathan Jones as our managers.
