2008 MS 5&6 Grades Boys Basketball

February 2: Kingsway

We were #4 seed. We played against Kingsway at the KRC gym to open the I.I. S.L. playoffs.  We led 19 to 14 at halftime.  In the second half, our boys did not play hard on defense.  Our boys were not themselves in the game due to tournament mentality. The final score was 41 to 57.  The Coach wants to wish Good Luck to Cody, Colton, Preston, Seth, Gio, TJ, Trenton, and Ken as they will move to the 7/8th level next year. Thanks to Dante, Jason, Austin, and Charles for being hard working players on the team. All players had a fun learning experience!

January 27: St. Richards

January 26: Trinity Lutheran

Yesterday we played against Trinity Lutheran.  We lost by 2 points after we did not make the last shot with 6 seconds left.  Trinity Lutheran was strong to shoot inside and had a good tight defense inside.  They did not allow us inside to shoot. Our boys had to struggle to shoot outside. The final score was 40 to 42.  We will travel to St. Richards today

January 22: Hasten Hebrews

On Thurs, Jan 22nd,  we traveled to Hasten Hebrew.  All the boys did well on the court. We ended with a win of 50 to 11. We will play against Trinity Lutheran at the KRC gym this Monday.  It will be our last home game.

January 20: St. Richards

Yesterday, we hosted a home game against St. Richard's.  I was pleased that our boys played very well. We did not have practice for four days because of the long M.L.K. weekend.  We led 16 to 13 at the halftime. I told boys to WORK HARD and be AGGRESSIVE on defense more. Our boys did in the second half. The final score was 48 to 30. We had 16 rebounds, 12 steals, and 12 assists.  TEAMWORK!  We will play at Hasten Hebrew tomorrow (Thursday).

January 13: Kingsway Christian

We traveled to Kingsway.  Our boys played a WONDERFUL game! They showed the same performance as they played against St John Lutheran at the KRC gym last Thursday.  The final score was 38 to 32. We will play against St. Richards at KRC Gym next Tuesday.

January 8: St. John Lutheran

We played against St John Lutheran at KRC gym Thurs, Jan. 8th. They had 3 tall players. Our boys played pretty good in the first half. We led 17 to 10 at halftime. In the second half, the boys showed GREAT performance with both HARD WORK defense and SMART PLAY offense and we did lead by 20 points. The final score was 42 to 35.

December 17: Traders Point

5/6th grade boys played against Trader Point on December 17th.  The boys played great in the first half as the score was tied at 17 to 17.  In the second half, the boys showed the same performance as the 1st half, but we couldn’t keep the same competition with Trader Point.  We lost to Trader Point by 14 points.  The final score is 37 to 23.

December 16: Orchards

We played at Orchards who were the champions for the IISL League last year.   We tied  7 to 7 in first quarter. In the second quarter our defense tried to stop their strong shot inside but we couldn't do it. At halftime we were down by 16 points.  Our offense got better with more movement than the first half.  We lost by 29 points; 27 to 56 was the score.   We will play against Trader Point at the KRC gym today. Trader Point defeated us, 18 to 24 last month.  Come to cheer us!

December 10: Irvington

December 9: Sycamore

We traveled to Sycamore.  We were tied in the 1st quarter 8 to 8.  Our defense was not aggressive on the court.  At the halftime we were were down by 6 points.  It was 12 to 18.  We tried our best and fought hard in the 2nd half.  Our offense had a few good lay-up shots but we missed a lot of good opportunities.  The final score was 24 to 37.  We need to play more aggressive defense.  We will play against Irvington at KRC gym today.

December 2: Bethesda Christian

We hosted our first home game against Bethesda Christian last Tuesday night. I was pleased that our boys played very well as a team, and the coaches and fans at ISD noticed! We did not have practice for five days because of Thanksgiving weekend. We led 27 to 9 at halftime. We had 24 rebounds and 18 steals by our good defense team, and 10 assists, too. Our boys PLAYED HARD and did great TEAMWORK! The final score was 43 to 33. We will play at Sycamore next Tuesday.

November 25: Park Tudor

We traveled again to Park Tudor.  Our boys did a great job in the first quarter because they followed the instructions in playing the game and we established our defense strategy.  We had a tremendous opening first quarter with 18 points.  It was a great quarter to start the game!  The whole team was able to play for the rest of the game.  The final score was ISD 32, Park Tudor 28.  Tuesday, December 2 will be our first home game against Bethesda.  Come cheer our team on!

November 20: Kingsway B

We traveled many miles for three straight days this week. On Thursday we all the boys did well on the court during all four quarters. The final score was ISD 55 and Kingsway 18. Kingsway team B were young players. We will play against the Kingsway A team in January. We will be ready to play at Park Tudor on Tuesday. Record: 3 wins - 1 loss.

November 19: Calvary Lutheran

We played at Calvary Lutheran.  All the boys did so well with their hearts out and we led all four quarters. We ended with a win of 51 to 27.  We will have another game tonight at Kingsway.

November 18: Traders Point

The 5th and 6th grade boys basketball team traveled to Traders Point. Our boys did pretty good playing during the game. We led 6 to 2 in first quarter. We allowed them to score nine points in 2nd quarter and our offense struggled on their defense zone. The halftime score was 6 to 11. In the third quarter, we got better playing on our defense. We were down by three points, 12 to 15. We could not catch up. The final score was 18 to 24.

November 11: International
In the season opening basketball game, we played at International School of Indiana (ISI). Our boys were anxious to play their first game. We were up by 12 points at halftime, 18 to 6. We finally got both good defense and offense in the third quarter. It was 30 to 11 in the end of third quarter. I decided to let all 5th grade boys play more in the fourth quarter. The final score was 34 to 23. Keep up with hard work!
