2009 MS Wrestling

March 12: Beech Grove Tourney

Beech Grove Invitational
8 first place
8 second place
5 third place

Our hard practice the day before and all season really paid off.  We showed up at Beech Grove ready to show our stuff.  There were four other schools there- Whiteland,  Beech Grove, Indiana Blind School, and Greenwood.  Our boys really came through, using the techniques we have been reviewing and practicing all season.

March 10: Perry Meridian "B"

What an awesome match against a school with a top notch wrestling program!  Our boys fought long and hard!  Their efforts really paid off, they showed their fans the great stuff they were made of!  The score pretty much speaks for itself.

March 4: New Augusta

What a close match!  Our boys really turned things around and fought
hard, regardless of the loss of 3 valuable wrestlers.  We were behind
in the first 14 matches 42-28 but pulled ahead 24-23 in the last 8
matches!  It was so close!

This week, we will have our last 2 matches-
ISD vs Perry Meridian B at HOME  4:45 PM on Tues, March 10
Beech Grove Invitational AWAY  5:00 PM on Thurs, March 12th

March 3: Creston

What an awesome turnout of ISD fans!  Sadly, we were defeated by
Creston.  They quickly dominated us but our wrestlers still gained
valuable experience which led us to do well in our next match against
New Augusta.

February 26: Carmel "B"

Our Deaf Hoosiers gave Carmel 5 pins while we only allowed one pin.  We fixed our previous match mistakes, improved, and took control of the game.  It is our first win and we deserved this win!  We wrestled as a team and are starting to understand the importance of scoring points with moves that create points.  Good work guys! Next home game is March 3rd at 4:30 vs Creston.

Come and show your support for our boys!

February 24: Lincoln

The Deaf Hoosiers didn’t give Lincoln an easy fight.  They choked us with their one move and that move cost us the game.  I continue to be proud of our wrestlers.  They work hard and want more and more.  Watching videos of previous matches gives them a better ideas when they see their mistakes and see where they need to improve.  We are getting better and stronger everyday!

February 19: Speedway

What a match!  We took the lead, 45 to 34 in weight classes 70 to 135.  They then outpowered us 12-30 in weight classes 140 to 275.  I think we did very well with only making minor mistakes.

February 12: Lynhurst Center

We started off strong by leading 18 to 9 with 3 pins. We gave them a good fight, since it was only our first meet while it was their seventh. We will be working extra hard to catch up and build up our boys’ strength and knowledge of techniques. We will wrestle Speedway on Thursday, Feb. 19th.
