Human Resources
The Human Resources division is responsible for providing consistent, accurate,
and excellent human resource services to the Indiana School for the Deaf.
Functions of ISD's Human Resources Department include:
- Ensuring compliance with federal affirmative action and equal employment
laws by establishing affirmative action goals and objectives.
- Providing ISD employees and their families quality medical, dental, vision,
life, and disability insurance, while promoting preventative care and other tools
to ensure that employees can be a productive part of the ISD workforce.
- Working closely with employees regarding Family Medical Leave, the State
Disability Program, job-related injuries and Worker's Compensation, COBRA
information and retirement issues.
- Maintaining an equitable and effective compensation system to attract and
retain ISD employees.
- Developing and ensuring a qualified and diverse pool of applicants to obtain
an optimal staffing level and appropriate allocation of positions at ISD.
- Maintaining complete information on ISD employees in a manner that is easy
to retrieve, protects the confidentiality concerns of ISD employees, and is
consistent with the State Personnel Act.
- Promoting positive, cooperative labor-management relationships, through
training; labor-management communication; adjustment of grievances; and
interpretations of clauses in state/union settlements, personnel policies, and
merit rules.
- Providing timely, inexpensive, high-quality professional training and
consulting services for ISD employees to enhance their development and
increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities for future advancement.
