Parent Teacher Counselor Organization (PTCO)
In 1951, PTCO was established to provide parents with meaningful ways to be involved with their
children's education at the Indiana School for the Deaf. After all these years, PTCO still
continues with that tradition. It is our belief that Parents are a vital ingredient to student
success. Working together, we can achieve our goals now and for many years to come. But we
need your help.
PTCO actively provides for student needs, sponsors Parent workshops and American Sign Language
classes, and strives to build a strong ISD Community and worldclass learning environment for our
children.
Come join us.
Our Mission
"Through the Bilingual/Bicultural Philosophy, PTCO exists to serve as an advocate and financial
supporter for the diverse educational needs and rights of all Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children
and their families at the Indiana School for the Deaf."

- New Family Welcoming
- Campus Beautification
- Staff Appreciation

Come be involved.
Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a special committee under PTCO that addresses the concerns
of parents and finds ways to resolve systemic issues that may arise. PAC Parent Representatives
serve to bridge the communication gap between parents and school staff. Each department has their
own PAC. Meeting dates and times will be posted in school newsletters. Issues and concerns
can be given to PTCO Board members, Parent Reps, or the PAC Chairperson at any time. Each PAC,
in partnership with ISD, strives to find the best possible solution to each situation.
Come make a difference.
Parent Involvement
PTCO encourages and welcomes parent involvement. Please share your unique gifts and talents
with us to help make a difference for all ISD students. We want your ideas, comments, concerns,
and suggestions.
